Project List and Finished Projects

Yay for finished projects!  I knocked a few things off the list and only added one big thing to it.  I went to a local quilt show yesterday and found some really cute Halloween fabric and am going to try and get a Halloween quilt done in the next 2 weeks.  I am going to do a Bento Box design and the quilt will be a smaller lap size probably.  B's 2nd birthday party will be October 30th so I would love to have it done for that so I can show it off to our family and friends at least.

I also finished the car fabric bin following the same design as the food fabric bin I made B.  This one holds all his cars and next I will do the music bin and train bin (and I finally found cute train fabric I liked!)

I also finally made B a crayon roll.  He likes to color and usually does at home and when we go out to eat.  We use the colors at the restaurant and I typically take home the free 3 crayons that we get.  Now I have a crayon roll to keep in my purse to put those loose crayons in and to have on hand if B needs to color.

Did you guess Riley Blake All Star 2 collection?  You know me so well.  I picked up these fat quarters a few months ago because I had to have them of course but I love the color combination together for the crayon roll.  I have enough left over to make another crayon roll or two in the same combination.

The other big project I finished is the Hayley baby quilt which I will post about separately.  I am almost done with my brown angel hair scarf but ran out of yarn and need to run to Joann's to pick up another skein.

B's Toddler Room

I put the final pieces together on B's toddler room last weekend.  The challenge now is trying to keep it somewhat clean!

The fabric I used for the quilt, sheet and curtains are from Riley Blake's Wanna Be a Cowboy 2 collection.

My mom made the rocking horse quilt above his bed last October for his cowboy themed birthday party.  The floor cushion was fabric from Joann's and the pattern was from Living with Punks.

The curtains pattern is my own, the sheets I made using advice from a few blogs and the quilt pattern was Stacked Coins Quilt from Moda Bake Shop.  I added a few more coins at each end to make it a little longer.  The Rocking Horse quilt pattern I found online for free and my little sister edited the appliques to give them more definition.   My mom, sister and I worked on picking out the fabric and putting scraps together for the rocking horse quilt.

Riley Blake Fabric

I really love Riley Blake fabrics and there is a blog out there that has bad words in the title that is giving I way a fat quarter of Riley Blake's Indian Summer line. One of the ways to enter is to link to stuff you have made with Riley Blake fabrics.  I have made tons of things but didn't have any on the blog so I posted a few below. 

I made two car rolls so far, one for B and one to sell.  Unfortunately it is really hard to find any of the Wheels collection left, especially the road fabric but I think I have enough in my stash to make a few more.  I thought about doing B's room in this fabric instead of Riley Blake's Wanna Be a Cowboy 2 but the Wheels collection was too difficult to find.

I also made a crayon roll that I don't have a picture of and a rice hot/cold therapy pack below (the long one) that is from the All Star Fabric.  I have a few fat quarters set aside from the All Star 2 Collection that I plan to use to make a crayon roll for B (for my purse) and I really need to get on that so I won't have any more loose crayons in my bag.

Lastly, I made B sheets, a quilt and curtains from the Wanna Be A Cowboy 2 line and will be putting the toddler room together this weekend and should have a post about it up sometime next week.

Finished Curtains and next on the list

You might remember a previous post where I talked about some custom curtains that I made for a friend.  I finally got a picture of them to show off and I think I did a pretty good job considering it was really my first time making curtains, much less curtains with a lining in them.

 

 

I did a  white blackout fabric lining on the back. I love this photo of the back of the curtains and thought how the pink fabric would make a great border to a white blanket.

For the curtains I looked at several tutorials online and a few sewing books I had but came up with my own measurements.  I thought the tutorial on ehow.com was one of the easiest to follow along as a guide for the lining part. 

I am now tackling curtains for B's room.  We just moved B (21 months) to a toddler bed and with that he is getting new bedding.  I am using fabric from the Riley Blake Wanna Be A Cowboy 2 line.

I was able to get blackout lining fabric at Joann's yesterday for around 80% off!  I think I paid around $2.24 a yard instead of $7 a yard.  I ordered the red horseshoe fabric from Fabric.com and with coupons and free shipping paid around $6.72 a yard for designer fabric, not too bad!
